resilience: the capacity to maintain psychological well-being by successfully adapting to and recovering from adversity, difficulty, or change

RESILIENCE COACHING AND YOGA

Resilience is learned and strengthened by the actions we take. By cultivating intentional practices that support mind, body, and spirit, we become highly adapted to the challenges of life’s complexities.

Positive Intelligence

For many years as a Health and Life Coach, I focused on helping people strengthen their inner resiliency. But here’s what I eventually realized: I wasn’t coaching the whole person. I was spending too much time trying to coach their saboteurs. What I know now is that lasting transformation comes from coaching a very different part of us - what Positive Intelligence calls the Sage.We all have a part of the brain ruled by what we can call the Judge - the inner voice that labels things as bad. "I’m bad, they’re bad, my circumstances are bad." This Judge, along with its accomplice saboteurs, develops out of fear and uses fear to create more of the same. When we operate from this place, we feel stressed, overwhelmed, reactive, and stuck. Trying to coach these fearful parts rarely works - they resist, criticize, and avoid change altogether. After completing the Positive Intelligence Coaching program and committing to daily practice in my own life, I now understand that meaningful change happens when we strengthen the Sage. The Sage sees every difficulty as a gift or an opportunity. It can transform challenges into sources of wisdom, clarity, and strength - or help us accept what we cannot change with compassion and peace. When we coach the Sage, we coach the part of the brain that is creative, grounded, curious, resilient, and capable of real growth. This is where lasting change begins. This is now my approach to coaching - using Positive Intelligence to boost performance, improve well-being and strengthen relationships.

TESTIMONIALS

"Colleen was a grounding presence during a challenging time in my life. She asked insightful questions that helped me see things more clearly, and guided me through exercises that brought real clarity and healing. Her support made a lasting difference."
-Katie H

"I have been working with Colleen for the past 2 years, and it has been an exceptional experience.
During that time, she has been incredibly supportive through the many challenges and life events that have occurred. She always knows the right questions to ask, allowing me the space to discover the answers on my own.
Colleen has been instrumental in compounding upon the skills I learned with my prior therapist, and developing new skills to succeed. Her guided meditations have been a vital part of that, and have helped me further develop my own meditation practices outside of the office."
-Gonzo

"As a first responder, I’m used to being the one who shows up for others—often in high-stress, high-stakes situations. What I didn’t realize until I started working with Colleen was how much I needed someone to show up for me in a grounded, compassionate, and steady way. From our very first session, I felt a sense of safety and calm that’s rare in my world. Colleen creates a space where I can exhale, be real, and reconnect with myself. Her presence is steady and intuitive, and she offers insights and tools that are not only thoughtful but immediately applicable in both my personal life and on the job. This work isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. I carry what I learn with Colleen into my daily life, into the moments of intensity and quiet alike. I’m grateful for her support, and I can honestly say that working with her has made me more resilient, more self-aware, and more human."

"I have been in and out of counseling for 16 years, and I can honestly say that Colleen is the BEST Life Coach I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. Her presence is warm, grounding, safe, and strong—something that’s felt from the very first session. Her deep experience and background in trauma-informed yoga and Ayurveda add a profound, embodied layer to the work we do together.Colleen is a powerful, sacred space holder. She gently guides me to alchemize my pain and trauma into purpose and beauty, and she offers practical, tangible tools that I carry into my daily life. I am forever grateful to have found her—and honestly, I feel a little sad for everyone who doesn’t get to experience her magic!"
- Astrid Alvarez

"Colleen's patience, empathy, humor, and compassion make her an amazing life coach. Although she never directed me to do anything, she would ask me questions that would help me find the answers I was looking for. She has faith in the process of self-discovery, and in the importance of letting people find their own path. She has helped me feel more connected to who I am, and she has made me understand that different people arrive at the answers they seek in their own time. There is nothing wrong with me that I am slow about this stuff. My inner life has its own timeline. This is one of the many things Colleen has helped me understand."
